MINING NEWS.
We make extracts fiom mining reports received to-day as follow :— New Golden Belt.—Since last report 20 feet has been driven [in low level; tho ground is rather tight. The Big reef did not prove payable, the yield from 20 tons at the Emily Battery be'ng sozs 19dwts, Five tons of quartz is waiting for crushing at the Corby Battery. Bismarck.—During the last few Bhaftß in the tunnel reel! there has been a slight change, and a Btrongish view of rather promising quartz ia now shewing in the face. Crushing will be commenced immediately upon completion of tho tramway. aucoßss,—Another lot of gold has been forwarded by steamer, a portion of whioh was obtained from the new reef.—This reef ia about 1 feet from, the other, and running almost parallel.—Both reefs look well, and gold still shewing freely. New GCilpen Pah. — In bottom level the workmen are engaged making a pa«s through to the north drive, and when it is completed they will commence work.—ln the intermediate level, wesi; end, 25 feet has been driven from the junction leader, which is still looking well. Colours of gold are continually Been when taking the leader down, not good enough, however, to be classed as picked atone. A stope in the back oi! the level has been started, and iv breaking down the leader colours ot gold were seen, Tbe late heavy rains have necessitated surface drainage, and the men have been engaged clearing out and repairing an old drive in the Union Beach ground.
