Gentlemen,—At the request of a large number of Electors, I beg to offer myself as a Candidate, in the Liberal interest, for your suffrages in the ensuing Election. I am a staunch supporter of Sir George Grey and the policy enunciated by him. I am in favour of maintaining intact our present system of Free Secular Education, and also of obtaining for this province Additional Endowments and Grants to enable tho Grammar and High Schools to be made free also, and placo the advantages of Higher Education more readily within the reach of all classes of the people. I am entirely in accord with the sentiments expressed by Mr. Sheehan with respect to Native lands, so that working men will be enabled to purchase forms,Buited to their requirements. I am strongly in favour of fostering Locsl Industries and Productions, and will support any measure which will tend to promote their establishment and prosperity. I have had an extensive experience in industrial pursuits in various parts of the Empire, and am convinced that in a new Colony, to Becure internal prosperity, it is absolutely necessary that the industries of the inhabitants should be judiciously protected. I am also firmly opposed to allowing the Chinese to obtain'a footing in this Colony. If clected,Jl shall be always found advocating the sinking of petty differences among the Auckland members, with a view to a united and determined effort under our leader to secure justico for this hitherto neglected portion of the Colony. ROBERT MOZLEY STARK. TO THE ELECTORS OF WAIKATO. Gentlemen,—Having been requested by a largo number of my fellow-settlers, and being influenced by the wish which I behove to be general that the District should be represented by a local man, whose interests are identified with those of the people whom ho represents, I havo determined to become a Candidato for your suffrages at the coming Election. It is my intention to address the electors at the various centres of population—place, date and hour to bo advertised—when my views will be fully explained. In the meantime, however, as reports aro being industriously circulated (I presume for electioneering purposes) prejudicial to my candidature, I wish to state emphatically that I am quite independent of, and will not be influenced by, any clique or ring; also that, although I cannot consent to be a blind follower of any party or man, I intend to support and endeavour, to the best of my ability, to havo carried into effect the main features of the Liberal policy as enunciated by the present Government. Assuring you that, whether as a member of the House of Representatives or as one of your fellow-settlers, I shall always do my utmost for Waikato, and endeavour at all times to put power into tho hands of the people—not to depriv them of it,— I am, gentlemen, your obedient servant, J.
