THE EXPEDITION. GRAHAMSTOWN, this afternoon. Thirty Volunteers assembled in the Public Hall, Paeroa, last night to go to Omatakura settlement on the Wainou, butontlie eve of starting the guide and pilot (both natives) refused to go for fear of ambuscades. The Volunteers again paraded under Superintendent Thomson and Inspector Kenny. News has reached here that the Ngatihakos had received large reinforcements from Piako and were determined to light, Mr Puckey oilicially protests against starting. The authorities hftve applied for more assistance.
