ASHBURTON, this day. THE MISSING FARMER.-BODY FOUND.
The body of Alexander Gordon, farmer, who has been missing, was found to-day in a paddock about 200 yards from where the dray was found. The country for many miles, from the sea to the railway line, had been in vain searched by hundreds of residents, and then the paddock where the body was found was examined. The body lay among some stubble, face downwards, the right band stretched and clenched, and tho left arm bent beneath the chest. The hat aud belt of deceased was a few feet away. Gordon left for home on Saturday afternoon. The night was bitterly cold and was followed by a snow-storm on Sunday morning. Deceased had been drinking, and it is believed that be lay down aud fell asleep and perished from exposure. He leaves a wife and ten children.
