DEPUTATION TO MR MACANDREW.
MANUKAU COUNTY.
Messrs Hamlin and Hobbs, Members of the House of Representatives for Franklin, waited on Mr Macandrew to-day, relative to various matters connected with Mannkau County. They stated that the road from Waiuku to Pukekohe station was in a very bad state, and urged him to have it repaired in accordance with Allwright's report, which recommended that the woist places should be immediately seen to, and tenders be called for metalling the whole road in October. The deputation also stated with reference to the road from Pukekohe to Bombay, that the only person who had hitherto objected to its construction was prepared now to sign any document in favour of opening it. Mr Macandrew fully co-incided with the views of the deputation, ne sent for Mr Stewart, District Engineer, and instructed him to see that the works were carried out forthwith. The deputation drew attention to several other roads, and the clearing and deeping of two creeks, but there being no special vote Mr Macandrew promised to attend to them on his return to Wellington.
