SALE OF THE ELLERSLIE ESTATE.

Messrs. B. Tonks & Co., at their mart this morning, sold several of the allotments on the Ellerslie estate belonging to Mr Robert Graham. Mr Tonks, in commencing the sale, said he did not intend to submit the whole of the allotments, but "dot" the estate, that is, to select allotments here and there, commencing from those having frontages in the Panmure road. The others would be sold in about a month's time. The auctioneer enlarged upon the future popularity which Elierslie is sure to enjoy, and upon the advantages of the site both for residence and investment. The neighbouring Ellerslie gardens were alluded to in eulogistic terms. At the commencement of the sale there was a large attendance, and the bidding was spirited throughout. Various opinions were expressed beforehand as to the probable price per foot the allotments would fetch. The prices realised are generally thought to be very fair. Twentysix allotments in all were sold. Those fronting Panmure .Road fetched from Us to 18s Gd per foot. In Bella-street and Russell Crescent the prices were 15s to 18s 6d per foot. Since the sale several allotments have been privately quitted at advanced prices.
