I • Government Tenders[Extract from New Zealand Gazette, April 9, 1874. TSSUE OF £50,000 NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT DEBENTURES, UNDER " THE WESTLAUD LOAN ACT,-1873. "' . Treasury, "Wellington, ■ April 9,1874. TENDERS are invited for the purchase of the whole or any portion of Fifty Thousand Pounds New Zealand Government Debentures, issued under the Act of the Legislature of the Colony, entitled " The Westland Loan Act, 1873." By the Act above cited, the principal sum to be raised, and the interest theron, are charged on the Consolidated Revenue of the Colony ; a special block of land, 250,000 acres in extent, being set apart as security to the colony for the amount to be raised, The Ter deis will be received and the Debentures issued subject to the under-mentioned conditions :— 1. The Debentures will be payable to bearer, and will be issued in sums of not less than One Hundred Founds each. 2. The Debentures will bear interest at the rate of 5 per cent per annum, payable half-yearly, on the 15th day of April and 15th day of October in each year, at the Treasury at Wellington, or at any Branch of the Bank of New Zealand in New Zealand, on notice given at the Treasury one month before the due date. 3. The principal sum will 'be payable on the 15th day of April, It 94, at the Treasury at Wellington, or at any Branch of the Bank of New Zealand, in New Zealand, at the option of the holder, six months' notice being required, previous to maturity, of the place at which payment is desired. 4. Tenders will be opened at the Treasury at Wellington, at noon on FRIDAY, the Ist day of May next, in the presence of such of the Tenderers as desire to be present,—the minimum price under seal being first placed on the table. In tKe event of. equal Tenders being received for a sum in excess of the issue, a pro rata distribution will be made. 5.' The amount tendered for must be paid at the Treasury at Wellington as under:—Five per cent, accompanying application; thebalanceon or before the Bth May. On payment of the balance of purchase money, Debentures signed by the Agents appointed under the Act will be forwarded, at the risk of the Government to purchasers or their nominees.. Half per cent brokerage will be allowed to brokers through whose applications sales are effected. Applications by telegraph, received not later than 10 o'clock a. m : on the Ist May, will be accepted, pro"•vided'tney are accompanied by a telegram from the Manager of any Branch or Agency of the Bank of New Zealand notifying that the necessary deposit has been paid into' the Bank of New Zealand to the credit of a Loan Deposit Account. If no allotment be made the 5 per cent, deposit will be returned in full, and if a portion only of the amount be allotted the surplus will be applied in payment of the balance. The Debentures, by " The Auckland Improvament Act, 1873," are made a first charge on* the lands and rents of land vested in the Commissioners, which at present comprise about forty-nine acres, including the Albert Barrack Reserve, being the m ost valuable part of the .pity, and affording undoubted security to the holder. The Debentures have coupons attached for each half-year's interest, which, with the principal, may be made payable at any of the Chief Branches of the Bank of New Zealand in New Zealand, the; place of payment .to be declared by letter addressed to the Secretary for the Auckland Improvement Commissioners within three months from date of acceptance'of Tender, otherwise to be understood to be payable in Auckland. The principal will be repaid at par by a one per cent, cumulative Sinking Fund, applied by annual drawings to the extinction of the debts. The drawings will take place in the month of October in each year, commencing in 1876, at the office of, and on a day to be notified by the Improvement Commissioners, and will be conducted in presence of a Notary Public and any of the Pebenture-holdeis who may please to attend. The Debentures drawn, will be paid at par on the 10th January following. The Commissioners declare their minimum at par, and Tenders at er above that rate, in accordance with the form annexed, and addressed, " Tender for Six per cent... Debentures," will be received by the Bank of New Zealand, at Auckland, up to TUESDAY, the Soth. of June next, * when they will be opened in presence of any of the Tenderers who elect to attend. Payment will be required as follows— On application, 5 per cent, on amount applied for. On 15th July, equal to 60 per cent, (inclusive of deposit) on amount allotted. On 31st July, 60 per cent. The Debentures will bear interest from Ist July, ,1874. Copies of the Act-authorising the Loan may be seen at the Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, New Plymouth, Wellington, Napier, Nelson,- Blenheim, Christchurch, and Dunedin. For the Bank of New Zealand.
