ARRIVAL OF THE S.S. HERO.
The fine steam ship Hero, 851 tons, Captain Thomas Logan, arrived in harbour from Sydney and Melbourne at half-past six o'clock yesterday morning. She brings from Melbourne the largest cargo that has ever left Melbourne for a colonial port since the founding of the colony." Particulars of her cargo appear under the heading of *' Imports." We have to thank Mr Cogswell, the purser, for obliging us with manifest, report of passage, files, and other favors. The Hero left Sydney, and cleared the heads"at 7.15 p.m. on the 17th instant; rounded the North Cape at 9.50 a.m. on the 22nd, and arrived in Auckland harbour at 6.30 a.m. on the 23rd. On the passage across;slip; experienced moderate northerly winds and'line*'weather until 10 pm oh the 19th; the wind then graduaUy increased, and blew very strong, with cloudy, hazy/weather, sharp squalls, and frequent heavy showers of rain to the North Cape,; thence, moderate north-east winds, cloudy and hazy weather, and much rain until arrival in port.
