BACHELDER'S DIORAMA

This grand diorama, now on exhibition at the City Hall, succeeds in nightly attracting large audiences. The first part of the programme comprises views of NewTork, Niagara, Chicago, and other places of interest. The second part contains some very interesting pictures illustrating prairie scenes, &0., with a view of the city of Mormons, Salt Lake. Section third comprises majestic views in the Far West, and the far-famed valley of the Yosemite, and sundry water-falls, which cannot fail to excite admiration. The last section opens with a grand view of Montgomery street, the " Broadway" of Frisco ; views on the sea-board of California and incidents on the steamer's passage across, together with vessel approaching New Zealand ; there is then a very faithful view of Auckland harbour as seen from Mount Eden, closing with views of Sydney Heads and harbour. The entertainment closes with a wonderful performance on the slack rope by an automaton figure, the wonder being how mechanism can be brought to bear on the object to make it porform the astoundiug feats it does. There was an afternoon's performance to-day, and the exhibition will be open Bgain thia evening. The band is very efficient.
