INQUEST.

THIS DAY. An inquest is being held as we go to press upon the body of a man named John Hauni gan, who was drowned under very distres>ing circumstances in Cox's Creek,, on Sunday, night. It; appears that the deceased was .crossing, the creek at low tide, when he stuck in the mud, and being a very weakly old man, 'he. was. uaable to.extiicate himself,; and upon the tide coming itfhe was drowned, as it were, by inches. An inquest Was opened upon the remains at two o'clpck this afternoon, at the Railway hotel, "Official Bay, before Dr. Philson, and a respectable jury. After viewing the body, which lay in the dead house adjoining, several witnesses were examined, ar.d the proceedings had not concluded when we went to press.
