On Thursday next the foundation stone will be laid at Kaiapoi of the North Canterbury Freezing Company Ltd. The directors invite shareholders to be present and hope as many as possible will make an effort to attend. The ceremony takes place at 11.30 a.m. and luncheon will be provided at noon.
Messrs H. Matson and Co report the following sales of Peninsula property during the last few weeks :— Mr W. Bailey's property at Kaituna, consisting of 660 acres to Mr J. F. K. Jamieson of Kaituna; Mr G. 13. Swan's property at Gebbie's Valley, of ]36 acres to Mr F. Harris, of Okain's Bay; Mr J. C. C. Rpynish's lease of the Education reserve to Mr Morrison Barclay, Little River.
The County Council meet on Saturday at Duvauchelle when the Luke Coleridge current supply for the I County will be considered. The night travelling for motors in the County will be /further discutsaed. The legal opinion from the CounciFs solicitors in regard to the effect the opening of tho road for one night in the week will have on the balance of the by-law has not yet been received but will be to hand before the meeting.
In our issue of May 9th we stated that Messrs Pyne and Co had obtained a record price this season at the Duvauchelle Sale yards by the sale of two bullocks on behalf of Mr E. Coe per Mr P. A. Westenra at £17 17s 6d. This is incorrect as Messrs H. Matson and Co hold the record for the yards by their sale in January, of Mr Jas CorrigalPs 3 steers at £18 a piece.
