VISIT OF N.Z.T.S. "AMOKURA".
ANNUAL SPORTS AT AKAROA,
The New Zealand Training Ship "Amokura" reached Akaroa from her visit to the South Sea Island depots on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday afternoon the annual sports for the ship's company were held on the Recreation Ground, Akaroa in! pleasant weather in the presence of the officers of the ship and aj great many Akaroa residents.
The pavilion was draped with flags for the occasion. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies of Akaroa at 2.30 p.m. and the programme continued at 3.20 p.m.. At the conclusion of the last event the Mayor gave a very cheery speech and distributed prizes won at the sports by Akaroa boys and girls. The whole company were then photographed by Messrs Peverill, of Christchurch.

Girls Race—Mavis Wright 1, Mabel Brown 2, Alice Hall 3.-

100 yds Race (Akaroa Boys) — Graham Hall 1, C. Staples 2, L. Robinson 3.
Staff Race Handicap—Mr Mc Dougall 1, Mr Pike 2, Mr Knox 3.
Obstacle Race—Neil 1, Halliday 2, Jenkins 3.
Tug of Yar (Ship v. Shore) 3 Heats —Ship winning.
75yds Boot Race—Edwards 1, Heappy 2, Mc Arthur 3. 50 yds Silly-sally Race—Hughson 1, W. Morrell 2.
Consolation Race 100yds—Cook J, Humphries 2, Sollet 3.
In the 20yds Hurdle Race, Cadet Wells was given a special prize having cleared every hurdle until reaching the last when he came down. Vera Wright was given a special prize in the 100 yds girls handicap.
