BANKS PENINSULA RABBIT BOARD.
A meeting of the Board was held at the office Cashel Street, Christchurch on Wednesday, April sth, there being present Messrs H. T. Chapman (chairman), J. Parkinson, H. A. Nutt and W. C. Fleming. The minutes of the previous meeting , were read and confirmed.
The Board decided to sue for all outstanding rates.
Regarding leaving the gates open the Board would draw the attention to the £10 reward offered to anyone reporting same. The inspector reported having . inspected during the past quarter, Port Levy, Purau, Charters Bay, Teddington, Gebbie's Valley and part of Kaituna. In, Port Levy, on Mr Williams I put up one, killing it, saw a few signs on Maori Hill, also at Maori Cemetery; on Mr R. J. Fleming's put up three, killing one; and saw a fair amount of signs on Messrs Steel's and Richard Fleming's; on James Flemings saw two rabbits and a few signs, also one on Mr B. Whares; saw signs on Mr L. M. Wilson's, killing two; and a fair amount of signs on Messrs Gardiner and Jackson's, killing five in Camp Bay. In Purdu, killed one on Mr L. C. Gardiner's and two at Diamond Harbour, on Mr H. Gardiner's saw a few signs but put up no rabbits. Killed one on Mr 0. Brad- ' ley's and saw several signs on a rocky facing there; on Anderson's Point I put up one and saw several signs there. On Mr T. Blatchford's I killed one, not many signs there on Mr L. Wilson's I saw nine, shot two and laid poison there; saw six on Mr W. A. Gray's, several signs there; on Mrs Coop's saw three, killing one, saw a fair amount of signs round the gorse there. On Messrs Gebbie Bros, I shot five, there a* c still a few there in various places. On Mr J. C. C. Gebbie's and Mr M. Cooney's I killed one on each, two on Mr H. A. Nutts and one on Mr J. Rennie's, joining Mr B. Quaife. In Kaituna on Mrs Walsh I killed five and six small ones, and one on Mr T. Harris', and put up several on Mr A. Hulston's, saw several signs there; also put up several on Mr W. Page s saw several signs there ; also put up one on Mr J. Parkinson's, joining Mr Hulston's. On Waitnngi 1 found it fairly free except in one place called Boar's Flat where I killed one but there are several in there; on Willesdcn I killed two, putting up two others, I saw tne manager and we ■u-ransed to put poison down. On Mrs Birdling's, Caton's Bay I kihlled five, putting up several others, she is putting on a man to try and destroy them ; there is still an odd one on F. and A. Birdling's. I beg to report having cleared gorse along the fence and killing inside the fence some 51 rabbits this hist three months also having attend- 1 ed to several of the gates and the fence in two places all of which are in fair order. At Burkes the red glass has again been broken which requires replacing, also more cable for the gates.
