BIG FALL FROM CAPTIVE BALLOON.

The rope of a captive balloon, whioh was floating at a height of 1150 feet above tbe French front, broke. The observer used a parachute to descend, whioh did not open until it had droppsd 150 feet. It then planed gently down and the observer alighted 500 yards outside the German trenches, and returned safely to the French lines.
