As a result of the efforts of tbe Peninsula War Funds Appeal com mifctees £9677 Is was raised for the Wounded Soldiers Fund. As our quota for Canterbury is £6,700 only, this district has done more than its "bit". The amount on No 1 Queen was £4849 14s Tbe amount on No 2 Queen £4827 73, making a total of £9677 Is. No 1. Queen had 581,964 votes and No 2. Queen 579,282 votes. Majority for No. I. is 2682 votes representing the sum of £2211 17s.
