AKAROA DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL.

On Tuesday last a number of parents and friends assembled at the school grounds to see an exhibition of Swedish drill by ths pupils of the school. The day was a very hot one, but in ppite of this the children gave an excellent display and great interest was taken in the drill by the parents and friends. The teachers are to be congratiilatad on the progress made by the pupils. Mr Hall explained that there hud not been rime to get beyond the elementary drill as yet, and ex pressed the hope that next year the onlookers would tied the children bad progressed considerably. Mr J X Newton, chairman of the School Com mutes congratulated the teachers and children on the display which all the parents bud enjoyed, and said it ye fleeted great credit on the teachers. Hβ wiehed the pupils and teachers a Merry Xrons snd a Huppy New Year The children gave three cheers for Mr Newton.
