PATRIOTIC CONCERT AT WAINUI.
A conofirt was given by the Akaroa Concert Party at Wainui on Thursday. December 9th. to further augment the tnnd fnr the Soldiers' Queer. There wts a good attendance of tbe people of the bay, although it was rather inconvenient for some to attend owing to tbe shearing. The programme seemed to be appreciated, and moet of the items encored, especially those submitted by the visitors, Mr and Mrs Trewin and Mr Longfellow Thronghout the i the. evening Mr G Armstrone made a farther appeal for the food, and offered to pive ten pounds if tbe audienoe would contribute another ten pounds, 4 collection was taken up and the money was forthonming and with: tbe door money the tota' raised was about j twenty seven pounds. With the generosity of Mr Q, Whelob who took the party over free of charge, that amount is net profit. The visitors appreciated very muob the care taken by Messrs Sloane and Buckland and their helpers in preparing the staging, etc., and also for the Bupner provided by tbe ladies of the bay. The conoert party are anxiously waiting for an invitation to give other aon oerti in any other bay they have not as yet visited
