LADIES MEETING AT PIGEON
I A meeting of ladies was beld in the Pigeon Bay Library at 8 o'clock on Saturday afternoon, December 4fcb, Present—Mesdames Goodwin, Hunt, Maelaverfcy, Davis, McNamara, King .horn, W. Duxbury, E. Hay, and Misses Goodwin and Paterson. Mr E. Hay presided, and explained the object of the meeting, which was that tbe ladies of Pigeon Bay do all tbey! can for tbe different stalls at the Dv I vauchelle _ Bay Carnival, which is to be held early in January All the ladies present agreed to do what they could.
Mesdames D Hunt and A, Goodwin were appointed delegates to attend any central meetings tbat might be called.
Apologies were received from Mes dameg J. Pettigrew, A McKay and J. i . Hay.
The ladies also kindly offered to assist at tbe luncheon and afternoon tea booths, and in any other way tbat they could. The meeting then terminated.
Tbe Akaroa Patriotic Committee recently made application to the Minister of Internal Affairs to bold Raffles, etc. in connection with the Carnival to be beld in connection with the Wonded Soldiers's Appeal. They have just received an acknowledge ment from the Department enclosing an application form to be filled in—but greatly to the surprise of tbe
