The committee of the Wairewa-and Mount Herbert branoh of the Banks Peninsula War j Funds Appeal met i_ the Library, Little River, on Thursday; present—Messrs W H. Montgomery, A. V. Huchinson, W. Radford, H. Chapman, J V. Chapman, T. Thompson, H Lswthwaite, W H Pearce, O Stanbury, S Birdling, J. Q. Coop, E. Samuels, W F. Parkinson. J. 0. C. Gebbie, T. Qnealy, F Fahey, L Fahey, W. Hercus, T. M'Girr and W. Gebbio. Mr W H Montgomery was voted to the chair.

The chairman reported that £1684 5s 6d j had been realised from the auction of the Union Jack on November 20 Votes of thanks were passed to the performers at tbe concert on November 20, to MrC. Wynn Wil Hams for donating the flag, to Mr L. Mitson for his services as auctioneer, and to the Girls' Friendly Sooiety for selling sweets, flowers and badges. The chairman reported tbat the sal*> of two cases of apples, donated by Mr E. A Patten, of Puaha, Little Eiver, sold on show day, had realised £5 3?, that the Girlf)' Friendly Sooiety bad realised £4 10s at the conoert and £25 2s at the show, making a total of £29 13s, and that Mr L Harper, who gave half his proceeds to No 2. Queen, was suoressful in adding £4 14*? 6d to the fund.

It was decided that a banking account should be opened in the Bank of New Zealand, Chrietohurch, in tbe name of the Banks Peninsula War Fund App-al, Wai rewa and Mount Herbert Branoh

Mr T Quealy eiected treasurer, and the local committee was elected to canvass CJebbie'a Valley, Kaituna, and Price's Valley .-Messrs JCC Gebbie. E A Radford, T Quealy. W F Parkinson, F Field and F Coop. Mr F. Birdling was appointed a member of the General Committee.

Mr J C C Gebbie moved.—"Tbat this meeting is strongly of opinion that the numbers on tbe Queen tickets should not be altered, and that this resolution be forwarded to the chairman of the General Committee, for consideration."

It was decided to obtain ropies of the Queen's photograph for insertion in the canvassers' books, and to have other copies printed for sale purposes. It was decided to have tbe Wairewa and Mount Herbert gala on Boxing Day, at Little River.

The following committee was appointed to make all necessary arrangements for tbe gala —Messrs J F Buchanan, J 0 Coop. E Samuels. T Tbompßrn, S Birdling, J Chapman, F Coop, H Chapman, H. Lewthwaite, A V Huchinson, W Radford, F Fahey L Fahey, S T Harris, A Breitmeyer. A Young. T Williams, T Stanbury. W F Parkinson and J C C Gebbie. .Mr H Lewthwaite waß appointed assistant secretary.

An offer from Mr H French to run a coooanut eby at the gala was accepted with thanks.

MEETING OF PENINSULA COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the Peninsula Committee will be held at the Library, Little River, on December 14th, to consider tbe quesiton of joining with the Springs, Halswell and Ellesmere Counties in the big Chriptehuroh Queen congest to be held early in 1916.
