RED CROSS FUND.
A meeting convened by Rev- H. A. Wilkinson was held at the Vicarage, Okain's Bay, on November 2nd, for tbe purpose of forming a branoh of tbe Red Cross Association. There was a good attendance of ladies and gentlemen. It was decided tbat tbe ladies should take in band the sewing, etc., material to be obtained from the Red Cross Depot in Christchurch, while the gentlemen should attend to tbe financial part, convasstng the district with a view to promises of regular monthly payments.
Mr Wilkinson was elected chairman, and Miss D. Trunk secretary of tbe ladies' committee, and Messrs A T Mason, chairman, A. Ware, secretary, W. Robinson, treasurer, and W. Thomas auditor of the mens' committee.
The following were appointed can vasses:—Messrs J. H. 0. Tbacker, Reg. 0. Mason, P. L. Gumming, J W. Boleyn, and Rev. H. A. Wilkinson. Meetings of the committee have been held, and tbe work is well in band. A stook of material has been obtained from the Christchurch Depot, and a good start is made with the sewing,
PENINSULA WAR FUNDS APPEAL.
In connection with the above several meetings have been held at Okain's Bay, with a view to organizing the district and furthering tbe interests of the Akaroa and Bays Soldiers' Queen candidate. It has been decided to bold a Fete at tbe Recreation Ground, Okain's Bay, on Wednesday, December Btb, in order to give as many of the Bay people as possible an opportunity of partieipati g Committees have been formed with Mr J.
