PENINSULA WAR FUNDS APPEAL
MEETING AT AKAROA
A meeting of tbe Akaroa section was held on Thursday last. Tbere was a good attendance, the Mayor in the chair.
It was resolved to bold the fete at Akaroa on December 16tb, and all present were resolved into a general committee to run same with power to add to their numbers.
The following were appointed in charge of various stalls, etc. Chairman of committees—His Worship the Mayor. Hon. Secretary and Treasurer—Mr G. W. Thomas.
Assistant hon. secretary—Mr D. Stiles.
Mr L. J. Vangioni was appointed in charge of tbe sports. Produce stall—Mesdames A. Rhodes Jos. Armstrong and Mr W. W. Williams.
Work stall—Mesdames Geo. Armstrong, Thomas, Pifkingfcon and Julius.
Ice cream—Mrs C. Goodwin Apron stall—Misses G. Newton, Julius and Cropp. Fortune telling and tea cups—Mrs K. Jacobson, Misses N. Lelievre and Ethel Lelievre
Refreshments—Mesdames E. E Lelievre Bruce, T. E. Taylor, Young man, and Miss Mabel Jacobson.
Sweet Stall—Mrs W. E. M Jacob son and Miss Westenra.
Button boles Miss E. Westenra, M Cheokley and A. Lelievre, L. Arm strong.
Guessing competitions—Miss Marjorie Julius Bran tub—Miss L Youngman. Doll and handkerchief stall—Mrs Cantrell and Mrs Lewitt Tbe chairman moved the Hon. Sec. write to Little River Brass Band and aßk tbem to come over.
Seconded by Mr L. J Vangioni and carried
Mesdames Peni, Keefe, Hokianga, and Paurini were appointed in charge of tbe Maori stall. * Live stock committee—Messrs E E. Lelievre, G. Checkley and Jos. Arm strong,
A number of canvassers were appointed. Ground committee—Messrs H. J, (in_ A. Rhodes, Lewitt and S. Hay ward.
Concert committee—Messrs F G Armstrong and A Gray. The offer oE the Commercial Travellers to entertain the crowd during the day made through Mr H W Wilkins was accepted. It was decided not to hold a Mock Court at the f£te.

APPEAL FROM COUNTY CHAIRMAN.
During his visit to the Eastern Bays on Friday and Saturday. Mr. J. D. Bruoe ap*pealed to the residents to support the Fenin • sula War Funds Appeal with contributions, stock and produce. He explained what the central committee were doing and asked their whole hearted support. A meeting was held at Pigqpn Bay Friday evening, Mr E. Hay being appointed chairman;
i The following committee was appointed to canvass the Bay :—Messrs G, Knudsen, Holmes Bay, A. McKay and D Hunt, top the Bay, A Goodwin and E Hay. lower end, Jno Duxbury, ceutre of bay, and Mr J O Hay, Monzie's Bay. At the Le Bon's Bay, Mr W. G Dalglish has been appointed chairman and represen tative on the central commitee.
