aided to hold local carnivals in the d'ffs.enfc centres, and also to have two carnival queens, • on*, to represent Akaroa Borough and County and the other to represent Wairewa and Mt. Herbert Counties
The centres will be Little River, Duviuchelle, Akaroa, and the Mt. Herbert County It was decided to close the voting on Thursday, January 13th, at Little River, where tbe last carnival will be held.
Tbe Duvauohelle gala will be bald in the first week in January The dates of the Akaroa and Mt, Herbert galas have not been fixed. Mr G. H ■ O'Callaghan was elected general hon secretary, each centre to have its own sub committee.
It was decided to nominate tbe puccdssful queen with the other queens to nominated for tbe Canterbury queen contest.
Messrs T. Williams and Cbas. Tikao were added to tbe committee
The Maoris will also be asked to nominate a queen
It was resolved that Mepsrs Buchanan and Ware arrange a meeting for selection of candidate, and that Messrs Bruce and Armstrong arrange re Aka roa County and Borough candidate.
ALLOCATION OF FUNDS
On Saturday next another commit tee meeting will be held at the Hill Top to further discuss details in con nection with the Carnival. At this meeting the question of the allocation of funds will be fully gone into.
