A SUCCESSFUL CONCERT.

OVER £66 RAISED.

A very successful and enjoyable concert was given in the Okain's Bay ball on Friday, Ootoberlotb, by an Akaroa concert party in aid of the Patriotic Fund. The hall was filled, and tbe audience was very appreciative of tbe excellent programme, most of tbe items of which were encored. The takins at the door amonnted to £8 Bs. Before ' the last item, Mr T. W. Wilkins put up to auotion a trinket box presented for tbe occasion by Mr A. R Pricbard, of Duvauohelle, and tbis article was sold and re gold until tbe amount at £58 12. 6d was added to tbe fund, when the auctioneer declared the sale closed, and handed over tbe trinket box to tbe final bidder, Mr K'-g Maeon.

On the motion of Mr W. Thomas

a beany voe of thanks was pipsed to the concert party, and carried by acclamation and musical honours.

The total takings for the evening were £86 16a 6d, and this amount has been forwarded to Mr G. O'Calla ghno, Glerk to the Akaroa County Council, who is acting as treasurer to tbe Fund.
