A CARELESS REGISTRAR.
Auckland, July 5,
In tbe police court to day, George Bond, ex Registrar of Electors at Hamilton, was charged with having neglected to pay£22 17s into the Public Account to which the money wa3 payable. According to the cvi , dence, defendant allowed small sums of money collected for tbe sale of rolls, etc., to be mixed up with hie business, which was a partnership. The sum of £22 17s has since been paid by defendant, and there was no suggestion of dishonesty or a deliberate breach of tbe regulation. Mr Cutfcen, S.M., said he was glad
to be assured that there was nor element of dishonesty, but the Act wae absolutely rigid, and be bad no option bat to fins defendant £100.
