NEW PENINSULA CHEESE FACTORY.
TO BE ERECTED AT LITTLE RIVER. Negotiations are now almoifc compteted for the erection of a oheese factory at Little River. An offer has been made to the dairymen of the district by a private person to erect a cheese factory near the main school, Oooptown, and pay Is 4d per lb for butter fat for the 1915 1C season, the suppliers to take over the whole fac tory at the end of the season, and pay the person erecting the factory the cost price of the erection of same. The offer appears a very attractive one, and the matter is now settled except for a few details. The high price of cheese in the Home market has, no doubt, lead to such an offer being made, and if such a speculation is going to be a paying proposition the outlook for oheese during the coming twelve months should be an exceedingly bright one for Peninsula dairy far mere.
Tbe big demand for cheese for War Office supplies has greatly increased the prico, and Canada, which was a large supplier to the Home market, is now almost consuming the whole of its output; it seems apparent that Ihe war will last for at least another 12 months, so tbat when the New Zealand supplies for tbe coming season reach the Home market there should be big prices given for them.
