Bed Cross Fund—The ladies of Akaroa intend after the despatch of the N Z, Hospital Bhip oomforts, to devote half a day & week to sewing for the Red Cro=u Fund at the Technical School. The Mayoress states that she would be pleaeed to receive any old linen for bandagae, eto. as they are very short of tbis material. It hai been decided to have afternoon tea at these afternoons, and charw everyone 6d, which will go to the fund. The Mayoress would aleo be glad of any spare sewing machines anyone would be disposed to lend for the winter.

3Btrtnn7 -Vh c death ooourred in tb.3 Obrintoburch Hospital yesterday of Mies Margaret Bruoe, third daughter of the late Mr W. F. Bruoe, and sister of Mr J. D. Bruoe, Akeroa County Chairman. Miss Bruoe has been a great sufferer for many years, and was taken seriously ill a week ago and taken to the Ohristohurch Hospital, where ebe passed away yesterday morninß. The funeral will leave the residence of Mr Bruce. Percy street, on Saturday at 2 p.m. for the Prenbyterian Church Cemetery.
