SOUTH ISLAND CHAMPION SHIP.

Tbe Peninsula was well represented at tbo Championship meeting which opened at Redoliffs' on Saturday, and the representatives put up. & good re oord Cadefc W. J. M. Hayward, of tbe 69th Cadet Co, Akaroa, won the Ist prize, for the Cadet Competition, £1, with a soore of 51, and also annexed Messrs Jones ond Sons' gold medal presented to the cadet with the highest aggregates in matches 1. 2, and 8 with a score of 91, and a 5s prize in the 2nd Cadet match, Bey. J W. Hayward, or Captain Chaplain Hayward was placed 2nd in the Territorial match winning 17s 6d Mr Hayward won a 5s prize in the Ist Territorial Match. President A. Wbitley (Akaroa Rifle Club) won a 53 prize in the Match No 1. Trooper H. Craw (C V.0.) won 5g prizes in Matches No 1 and 2. P. A. Westenra (Akaroa Hiflo Club), won 7s in Match No 2 and 5s in Match No 8. T. Lawrence (Akaroa Rifle Club) won 5s in Match No 2, while H. Harrington (Akaroa Rifla Club) won 5s in Match j No 2 and 5s in Match No 2. A Erickaon (Pigeon Bay Eiflo Club) won 5s in Matoh No 1, and F, C. Newton (Akaroa Rifle Club), 2* 6d in tbe Cadet matoh No 3.

The meeting was continued on Easter Monday. In Match No. 4P. A. Westenra and H. Harrington, of the Akaroa Rifle Club, each won 5s each, while in the Territorial Captain Chaplain Haywood won 103. W. J. M. Haywood, of the 69th Company, was first in the Cadet's Match with tbe ecore of 20 In tbe B series of matches in tbe Onslow Match P. A. Westenra and T. Lawrence, of the Akaroa Rifle Club, each won 10s.
