HELD AT TIMARU. At a committee meeting at Timaru, the Mayor reported that tbp entries bad come in very satisfactorily, and constituted a record for such com petitions in tbe Dominion. They were as follows :— Events. Brigades. No. 1 73 No. 2 41 No. 3 49 No. 4 59 No 5, 86 No. G 84 No. 7 58 No. 8 SO No. 9 • .. 18 No. 10 82 No. 11.; 71 Total C4l Tbe Association had instructed the various Brigades to forward shields held by them, and they were now on exhibition at; Torrie's. The programme committee had met and al lotted the prize money amounting to £800. The ground committee had made application to tbe Defence Department for the loan of some bell tents, but the Department's were in use at present. The Mayor added I that at the Sunday morning Church parade members of tbe Borough Council would attend. PROGRAMME OF ENTERTAINMENT. Tbe following programme of entertainment for the week will be carried out: — Sunday—Morning, Church Parade ; after service civic reception in King George's Place , evening, Band concert on tbe Bay. Monday—Evening, Municipal COQ--1 cert on the Bay. 1 Tuesday—Citizens' luncheon to delegates to annual conference, at Arcade Cafe. Wednesdsy—Gala Day on the Bay, evening, torchlight procession. Thursday, Friday and SaturdayCompetitions in Park. 1 Friday—Evening, concert on Bay. ' Saturday evening—Smoke concert, and presentation of .prizes, Arcade Cafe. The seven other men, in I eluding team of live, emergancy add delegate, are Foreman McFarlaoe, Brancbman D Langrope, L. Haylook, N. Pilkiogton, D. Handisides, W. Pool and 8. -Hay ward. The Hvents in wbich tbe Akaroa Brigade is competing are- (1) 5 men, reel, hose and ladder; (3) 2 men coupling ; (4) 1 man coupling ; (5) rescue event.
