AKAROA AND PENINSULA. MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB, A well attended meeting of the above club was held last night, Mr G. Armstrong in the dbair. The chfiirman said he was pleased and willing to take' an active part in the Miniature Kifle Club, and said ie was an important stHp in the eitiz-ns' defence. M Whitley pointed out how muoh more quickly mwi lea.tnt at a short range Key. J. W Hayward endorsed Mr Whitley's remarks, and said he would join with Mr Whitley in h'lglng new shots. Mr Bruce spoke on tbe same lines. The following officers were elected: — President, G. Armstrong, Esq.; oommmittee, Messj3 Whitley, Miepberd, Thomas, Young-' man, Dodds, Lawrence and Rev. J. W. Hay. ward ; bon. treasurer, Mr Youngman; hon. secretary; Mr C. H. FJavelr. The ranee will be in the course of erection in a few days' time.
