AKAROA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

A special meeting of tbe Council was held on Wednesday evening. Pres ent. Tbe Mayor and Org Fyfe, Munro, Leete, Cantrell, Vangioni, Frederickson and Williams. Tbe Mayor said he had called the meeting to consider a letter from Mr Rhodes, regarding the trees in front of the Akaroa Post Office. The letter was as follows:— "The question has been raised whether it is intended to cut down the trees in front of the new Post Office building at Akaroa, As this is a mat ter of greater interest to the residents | of Akaroa than to the Postal Depart- { ment I have decided fro leave it entirely to you and the members of your Council." Cr Vangioni moved that the two ribbon woods in front of tho Post Office be removed. .. Seconded by Or Freuerickseu and carried. The meeting then terminated.
