CONCERT AND SALE OF WORK.
AT LITTLE RIVER.
The following is the result of the concert and sale of work on New Year's Eve in aid of the Britain and Belgium Fund, The function was organised by the Girls' Friendly Society, and was carried through very successfully. The concert was held first, the items being mostly given by members of the Girls' Friendly Society After the concert several competitions were held aqd a sale of work proceeded with. A dance concluded a very successful function:—
Door money £9 5s 3d, work stall £6 16s lid, soft drinks and sweets £2 12s 10£ d, bran tub £1 11s 10d, cakeguessing competition £1 ss. battrimming competition 6s 9d; potato peeling competition ss, sale of cake 4s, donations to "Absent-Minded Begger" ifiO'ted by Miss E, Gilbert 9s Ui, donations to "Tommy Atkins," sung by Miss M Oolombus, £2 Is 6H total £24 183 6|d. Several donations brought the amount up to £25, which has been remitted to the secretary. The following were tbe stallholders: — Worketall, Mrs Humphries, Misses Banks, Chapman, Wright and Clark ; soft drink and sweet stall, Misses Reed, Badford, Birdling and Colombus; bran tub, Misses Vanstone; refreshments, Mesdames Gillman, Paul and Priest; competitions, Mrs Croc kett.
Tbe musical programme was under the direction of Miss Bessie Stanbury.
The following were the winners of the competitions ; — Cake-gueasiDg, Mrs Gillman; table centre, L. Joblin; cushion, A. Jones j potato peeling, — Wilson ; haft trimming, J. Coop. Tbe judges of tbe bat trimmiDg were Mesdames Thompson and Aitken and Miss Coop.
