AKAROA CITIZENS DEFENCE CORPS.
A meeting of the exrcutive cf tbe Citizens' Defence Corps was held on Saturday evening, his Worship tbe Mayor in the chair, and Messrs J. D. Bruce, A. Whitley, B. W. Henning, and Rev. J. W, Hayward being also present.
The Mayor was appointed president of tbe executive, and tbe Rev. J. W. Hayward's position as hon, sec. was confirmed.
Arrangements were made for a visit from Major Barnefct next Satur day,, and it was arranged that the first drill should be held on the Recreation Ground, Akaroa, at 7 p.m.
The secretary was instructed to com munic:ite with tbe Defence Department re getting the services of the visiting Territorial drilling officer for parades of the platoon.
It was decided to bold a meeting of tbe nt w corps on Wednesday evening for a; pointing officers and dividing tbe plitoon into sections.
It was decided to make a personal canva-s of Akaroa for enrolment pur poses, the president (Mr Geo. Arm strong), and tbe hon, sec. (Rev. J. W. ■Hayward), to take round enrolment paper-?.
