AUCTION- SALE AT AKAROA. An auct : on sale of eundries, the proceeds lof which are to be evoted to the Belgium { Belief Fund was held at Mr Mann's butcher shop, Akaroa, yesterday, when there wa3 a I good attendance, ar.d a good assortment of produce of all sorts, including iam,hs, sheep, poultry, vegetables and sundries. The sale was opened by hi 3 Worship the Mayor, who referred to the object of the sale Mr T W. Wilkins, of Messrs W. D. Wilkins .t Sons, kindly offered the lots free of ' commission. All the lots were sold, and the - total profits from tbe sale, £24 103, will be j banded to those in charge of the funds, , Much credit is due to Mr W. Glynan, who has spent much time in collecting the pro duce for the sale, and to the many donors of ! the produce. I It is probable that the sales will be held I periodically, as many offers of produce are j w llingly given to relieve tbe distress in Belgium and Great Britain.

DUVAUCHELLE XMAS TREE. The proceeds of the auction sale held at Duvaucbelle on Tuesday night amounted to ' £24 19s lOd. Twenty I five of tbe children generously forewent their I toys {rom the Xmas tree and donated £1 15s I6d to the fund, making a total of £26 16s 4d J Much of the success of the evening was due to tbe work of Mesdames B Barker and Wal ter Co3sar.
