IMPROVEMENTS FOR HOLIDAY
I Tbe Proprietor of the Hotel Metropole, Afcaron, has just completed ft thnronch reno. vation of the hotel which should add to the comfort of ihe many visitors who spend their I holidays tber>, while in Akana Th« large drawing room on tbe ground floor, facing the stre t, haa now been partitioned off with folding doors making a comfortaba parlour near the main entrance of the Hotel, and a tea room leading from the large front dining room. The tea room will be for the oonven ienoe cf those staying at the Hotel, and can when occasion arises be used aB an extension -10 the dining room. Both the parlour and the dining room have been refurnished and freshly papered making moet handsome rooms, being light and fresh. The large front dining room has also been repaperad, and makes an exceeding'v handsome room, as the papers in this ard the other rooms aie very artistic designs. An additional attraction to the dining room is the substitution of small tableß for the large dining table, and the proprietor in (his respect is following 'he custom in most large hotels. The large table is us id in the back dining room, which has also been thoroughly renovated. The whole building has been repapered throughout, so that the bedrooms and drawing rooms have a n'ce fresh appearance for the tumm r holidays. Mr W, Day, of Akaroa, has can led out the paperhanging, and his work is very excellent Outside the main building a new motor gpD go has been erected at the back of the h itel with aoce3s to both Jolie and Lavaud Btre»t3. The garage is roomy, and fhoald meet the requirements of the hotel during the busiest part of the season. The hotel is now thoroughly up to date, and under the capable management of the present proprietor should give every satisfaction to visitors during the present season. Meßsrs Haylock and Newton 0 f Akaroa, have carried out the renovations a nd erected the garage.
