BELGIAN SHILLING FUND

OVER £21 COLLECTED. The shilling fund for the Belgians baa realised £21 14s in and about Akaroa. Mis 9 M. Vangioni undertook the collecting, and with her assistants raised £21 14s, an. excellent return. In many ca3ae, as will be seen, people gave more; but they were all asked for one shilling only. There has been an idea abroad that the proceeds of the fund were to be epenfc in toys for the Belgians, but this is not correct. The money will he sent home and used for the urgent needs of the Belgian children refugees. The cause is a good one, and the Akaroa people have responded well. The collectors met with no refusal. The amounts collected were:— £ s. d. Misses N. Lelievre and E, Rhodes 6 4 6 Misses J. Bruce and M. Fergus ... ... 3 9 6 Misses M. Vangioni and E. Lelievre 11 7 0 Me G.
