The second v- col of the Christ church 1914 15 series was opened on Monday morning at tbe Alrxandra Hall, irj the presence of a full bench of buyers, although nece?sari!y the representatives of tbe countries at war with the Empire, who in past years were prominent amongst the buyers, were, as at tbe firs'; sale of the season, conspicuous by their absence, and without tbe guttural German vioces, the proceedings were much quister than at some previous sales at which Tuatonio competition was strong. Taken all round, the quality of the wool offered at Monday's sale wea satisfactory although neceg°arily the long period of dry weather appreciably affected tbe clip, som* of it containing considerably more extraneous matter than in normal seasons, whilst the greater part was heavier in the grease than usual. The offerings totalled 15 972 bales, compared with 14,409 at! the corresponding sale last year, end 17, 691 at tbe December sale in 1912 j Messrs, H, Matson & Co, in their report, state that Mr J Kennedy, of Wainui, topped the marketer the Peninsula, bia top lot realising Hi and the lowest price for for fleece woql 12i. His sale 9 were:— 6 bales 141, 4 bales sbale3 13d, 8 bales 12}.!. Mr Kennedy uses Corrieda'e rams and bis wool is of splendid quality.
