. Ijkeston. Dfcpmbpr ;■!. Tbp Hon. Mr Rhodes continue-' to have very good meetings. One of the most successful of the campaign ■wi3 held at Dunsandel last night, when the Town Hall was crowded. Mr S. Shernartl, who presided, paid that Mr Rhodes was well known nnd respected, both in and out of ParJia cnent, and even his political opponents never bad a hard word to pay against him. That the electors are taking a keen vnternst in political matters, notwithstanding the war, i? shown by the number of questions asked «it the candidate's meeting, and last night's Duneandel meeting was no exception to the rule. After questions bad been disposed nf, Mi , J. S. Boag -moved—That a hearty vote of thanks be accorded Mr Rhodes for bjs straightforward speech and of confidence in him as their representative and in the Massey Government. In seconding this, Mr J- Sowden SB id he believed that a farge majority of the electors of Ellesmare beJievedin Mr Rhodes. As an amendment;, Mr A. Amor •moved—That the candidate be given a vote of thanks for his splendid nd dress, but that the confidence be placed in the ballot-box. This was seconded by "Mr Anderson. A show of hands wiw taken, both for the amendment anS the motion. Eleven were held up foi ■ the former. The latter was carried! by an overwhelming majority atniidst loud applause.
