There was a very large and representative attendance at the funeral of the late Mrs James Wright at Wainui on Wednesday. Three launches left Akaroa, carrying a number of the most prominent citizen, including the Mayor (Mr G. Armstrong). There were representatives from every bay on the Peninsula to pay their last respects to the well-known pioneer. The burial service was conducted by the Rev, T. J. Smyth, assisted by the Key. A. H. Julius. Rev. T. J. Smyth gave a most impressive address at the graveside. He referred to the good qualities of the deceased, and said she was an excellent Godfearing woman, a great friend to many on the Peninsula> and one who could always be looked up to as leading a straight, honest life. She wa3 in the unique position of leaving behind her nearly 200 descendants.
