AKAROA TENNIS CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of tbe Akaroa Tennis Club was held on Wednesday evening. There was a good attendance of members, Mr G. Henning in the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. REPORT AND BALANCE SHEET. The report and balance sheet were adopted as under: —

"Your committee has much pleai sure in placing before the members the twenty-second annual-report and i balance-sheet. The receipts, includ- ; ing credit balance for last year, amount to £30 9s, expenditure £28 03 Id, leaving balance of £2 8s lid. It is satisfactory to notice that the club's membership still increases. During the season the usual tournaments were held. Miss C, Narbey won the ladies singles, Misses M. Fergus and M. Jacobson the ladies' doubles, and in the junior grade Miss Nora Lelievre won the singles, and Misses W. Lelievre and A. Pilkington the doubles. It is satisfactory to note tbat more matches were played this year with outside teams than other seasons. A Peninsula match was played at Little River against a junior team from Christchurch, and though the Christchurch players were far superior to the Peninsula team, some very enjoyable games were played, and it is to be hoped this will be made a yearly match, as it will give our players a good insight into the game. Matches were also played with an Opawa team, with Little River and Little Akaloa clubs, and a very enjoyable game was played with a team from the Farmers' Co-op., "Christchurch, on Labour Day. The annual dance was again held in July, and was very enjoyable.
