TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—As Mr W. H. Henning has raised a fake issue to deliver an attack on his Worship the Mayor, I want to point out that the latter made no promise or compaot with the Minister of Public Works to widen Lftvaud Street, Akaroa. Mr Henning knows only too well that he can very often see in the "New Zealand Gazette" similar applications to that made by the Akaroa Boiough Council for exemptions relative to streets under the Public Works Act, and such applications being granted in towns all over the Dominion. As Mr Henning. in his youth, served the country in the British fleet, I want to ask him at this time of stress— "Don't yau hear your oountry calling."—l am, etc., UNION JACK.
