PIGEON BAY ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday, Ist August. Present—Messrs J M, Duxbary (chairman), D. Hunt, J. 0. Hay and W. Corrigall. ■ >. The minutes of the prior meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was read—
From Messrs Slater & Son, acknowledging receipt of Board's letter re transfer of closed roads to Mr G. MoKay, The chairman reported that a horse bad been purchased on the Board's behalf at £22 )os, the price being reasonable and the horse suitable for the Board's work. Mr D. Bunt gave notice that ho would move at the nest meeting on Saturday, 3rd September—That a general rate of £d in the £ be struck on the capital value of tbe Pigeon Bay Boad Di3triot. Mr Hay moved, Mr Hunt seconded, that tenders be called for the right of cutting cocksfoot on the various roads in the district., tenders to be in by next Bottrd day.
Carried. : Some diaoussion took place on Menzies Bay road survey acoount, after wbioh Mr Hunt proposed, Mr Corrigall seoonded, that the chairman and Mr J. C Hay interview the engineer on Friday re same. The foreman reported that the Board's men had blinded with soft metal about twenty chains of the Fernhill road. Watertables on some had been cleaned down to the pound. Watertables on the Bun road, Holmes' Bay road, aa far as MoHale's gate had been seen to. Three new culverts had been put in on the Port Levy road and two on the Main road. Two of tbe Board's men had been sent 4o Menzies , Bay for road repairs.
Mr Hunt drew attention to a piece of road near Keynish's, which required about one day's worn for two men. Ihe matter was left in the foreman's hands to attend to
Some discussion took piace regarding the state of the wharf.
