FIRE IN COLLIERY.
• MANY MEN AFFECTED. Sydney, July 28. A fire is raging in the Neath colliery, near Cessnoek, situated in the mouth of the Mait. land coalfield. The worls of sealing down the shafts is proceeding. j>
It appears that an explosion occurred, and a party which descended to aseertnin the c»u39 found tbe fire spreading, and they beat a hasty retreat. '
No miners were working at the time of the outbreak, it being their fortnightly holidays. The details are meagre. It is undeistood that the outbreak is serious, and is likely to cause enormous damage to property, Three hundred men are affected.
