FIRES IN RUSSIA.
SIX HUNDRED HOUSES BURNED. St, Petersburg-, July 15 Six hundred houses have been burned at Wankoe and Novgorod. Rain alone will stop the appalling fires raging in Archangel, Vitebsk, Vologda, Smolensky and Yaroslav. ■Troops are. fighting great forest fires at Krasnoeselo. Eighteen companies of soldiers are engaged in fighting peat fires at Iver. The paat is burning fiercely to a depth of seven feet.
Large reinforcements o£ troops have been despatched to the various districts.
