SHOT BY A CORPSE.
GENDARME'S FATE. Berse, June 7. Peasants proceeding through the woods found the body of a man lying on a forest path. He had evidently committed suicide. A Geneva'made Browning revolver was clutched in his lifeless hand, the fingers still clasping tho trigger, as they had done when the fatal shot was fired, A gendarme was sent by the authorities to examine the corpse The official touched the dead man's hand io conducting his examination, and the fingers contracted on the trigger and discharged another shot. The bullet struck the gendarme in the stomaob, fatally wounding him.
