Many small villages were striken during the night. ■'.-. ' . X ; It is expeoted that the casualities will be doubled. At Santa Caterina hundreds of houaea were' destroyed. Churohes collapsed everywhere. Mt Etna is becoming moro active. Bomb. May'lo.Tremore have been felt in the vicinity of Mt. Etna for the past fortnight with severe shocks, on Thursday reaching the maximum. On Friday evening they equalled in intensity those which destroyed Messina. There are many hundreds of dead and at least a thousand injured, in Catania there are no fatalities, but muoh damage. At Aoireale forty bodies have been recovered. In the village of Linera, which is completely destroyed, one hundred persons are dt'H en° tombed in debris.
