The Mount Herbert County Council met on Monday last in the County Council Chambers, Purau; present— Messrs Orton Bradley (chairman), A. R Fleming, H Field, h: M. Wilson, J. Hunter, Q G\ P, Bamford and X ? Allen. Mr Bamford took his eeat for the first 'time in the place ol Mr J. E. Davenport, who baa resigned. Mi? F..H. H. Gardiner wrote renewiog his offer of £100 for the formation of the Beach Road, through the Dia mond, Harbour estate, and stating that he hoped the work be put into hand very shortly. The clerk was instuoted to reply that as soon as the Lyttelton Borough Council decidpd on the route the work would be com menced
Mr Allen gave the following notice of motion for the next meeting :— "That the. road from the boundry at Rapaki Hill to the boundry at Pigeon Bay Hill, Port Levy, be dedicated a main road by special order." Mr Field gave notice of motion to strike a .general rate of of £d in the £ for Port Levy riding, and a rate of fd in the £ for the Port Victoria riding. : ,
i The clerk was instructed to. sue for all rates outstanding after May 18, with 10 per cent penalty added. - Mr D. Bamford was appointed registrar for doga throughout the county, and it was desided that the charge for each dog should be 23 6d.
The financial statement' showed a credit balance at the bank of £725 14a 7d. Account ammounting £104 8a 7d were passed for payment.
