FIRE IN A HOTEL.
Auckland, March 16
A fire was discovered in the Shakes peare Hotel at midnight. Flames burst through the floor of an attic ocj cupied by two waitresses. About thirty persons were sleeping in the hotel in addition to the licensee and steff, and all escaped in their night attire. When the brigade arrived the flames bad burst through the hotel roof, bur. were suppressed within a quarter of an hour.' Much damage WB3 done, chiefly by water.
