MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE.
A meeting of tbe general committee was held at the Akaroa Fire Brigade station last evening Present—His Worship the Mayor in the chair, andj Messrs A. McFarlane, M. G. Daly, G. W. Tbomas, S. Hayward, T. Lewitt, 0. G Hid win, A J. Turner, and I) Handisides, bon. sec. to tbe committee Mr Daly said there was roughly £100 on the subscription list, and there were a number of residents who had not yet been approached. It was estimated that tbe total expenditure would be £140 The secretary reported that the band had communicated with him, and stated that tbey would give a good programme of music at Saturday night's concur. It was decided to aek Mr J. Haylock to make arrangements for the milk, boilers, etc, for the picnic at Wainui'. A sub committee, consisting of His Worship the Mayor, Messrs Daly, Thomas, and Handisides were apjointed to look after the sports and arrangements for the picnic at Wainui and the Fire Brigade undertook to look after the loading and unloading of tbe launches. canvass for provisions for tbe picnic, which was accepted with thanks, It was decided to meet on Thursday again to make final arrangements.
