Tbere were a large numborof Akaroa residents at a public meeting held in the Akaroa Borough Council Chambers on Tuesday evening, the Mayor presiding .. ,

Tbe Mayor explained that the objfet of tbe meeting was to arrange re entertainment of delegates to the annual fire brigades' conference to be held this year in Akaroa.

Messrs Checkley, F. Taylor, H. W. Wilkins, T. Lewitt, L. Vangioni, M. G. Daly, W H Parkin, A. Gray, VV. Day, A. McFarlano and S. Hayward were appointed an entertainment committee.

COLLECTORS,

The Mayor and Mr M, G. Daly were appointed collectors to act with the lady collectors. HANI). Tho Mayor moved tbat tbe hon, secretary write and make inquiries re terms of various bands. Seconded by Mr Bruce, and carried. The delegates arrive in Akaroa onj Saturday, March 7, and leave again on Monday, March 16,
