The police have discovered at Mentargis a baby farming organisation operating through France and abroad responsible for fifteen thousand illegal operations. It constitutes an amazing revelation. Letters and paperß seized show that the Bgency had dealings with fifteen thousand women, who had come into contact by meam of advertisements with Us agents in provincial towns. A man and two women accomplices have been p.rrest d. Three houses belonging to the organisation have been discovered in Paris. A d?ad servant, girl's case revealed the orginisation to tha police. Women appear to receive drugs through the post, subsequently coming ti Pari* to have illegal operations performed.
The Senate will shortly be discussing a Bill regularising lying in hospitals and mid wivea. complicity in abortion a criminal < ffence. It includes provisions dealing with drug advertisements, and also those publishing the recommendations. Abortion statistics reveal an alarming preva* lenc<? of the practice.
